Presenting "Alice" 100% Tussah Silk spinning fibre. Beautifully soft luxurious fibre with a elegant natural sheen, very enjoyable to spin and handle with a comfortable short staple length. Handspin on its own for a luxurious 2 or 3ply yarn or combine as a binder for our super fine kid mohair locks for a stunning one of kind halo type fluffy 2ply yarn. 50g tussah silk is more than enough to spin as singles to ply with 100g kid mohair locks / fleece, merino, or one of our other fibres. Blends well with all our fibres with hand carding or using your drum carder to create ultra stunning spinning batts. Can also be used in needle, nuno and wet felting techniques to add interest to the finished piece.
approx 50g of luxury, delivered as a braid with a small little silver heart charm keepsake attached as a thank you for choosing our fibres.
naturally dyed with hand painting layering techniques using a range of natural dyes made from an unusual combination of ingredients, including teal, red cabbage and modifiers giving beautiful turquoise, green aqua and blue topaz hues throughout. One of a kind blends are created by my own speciality method of natural dyeing which takes up to five days to achieve so all are unique one of a kind bundles of loose locks.
Extremely challenging to photograph, all pictures are taken in natural daylight but it is still impossible to capture the true beauty of each fibre in a photo, there are lots of hues and variation throughout so these really must be seen and handled to be truly appreciated as the photos simply do not do them justice.
All computer monitors or laptop screens display colours differently, I have done my best to give a true representation of the colours so please keep in mind that your screen may be displaying the tones slightly differently to mine.
Only natural dyes produced directly from plants, flowers, herbs, spices, roots and other items usually found on the grocery aisle of the supermarket are used in my designs, no harsh chemicals or irritants are in any of my products so they are kind to your delicate skin and our environment.
Everything is colourfast and has been washed of dye residue, however, it is advisable to wash your finished item once by itself just in case there is a small amount of dye excess left in the fibre. Store out of direct sunlight.
