Chalk Hill Blue, Peacock and Large Blue butterflies.
These 3 prints are from a series of linocuts of British butterflies, which I have completed this year, and I have learnt so much as I’ve worked. I have learnt how the wings are made up of a double layer of scales, which act like mirrors and prisms to reflect the light and allow us to see those incredible colours. I have learnt how picky they are about their food, which is why we have to be so careful to preserve their habitat, or we’ll lose them for good, and about the ancient belief that each butterfly represents a released soul.
I have hand printed the butterflies on coloured pastel paper and added ink where necessary to ensure they are accurately represented.
The prints are sold with a mount, which measures 21.5cmx42cm, the apertures each measure 13.5cmx10cm. Each print is named and signed.
All the butterflies are available individually in our shop. I have given a discount for buying three, but due to the size I have had to charge more for packing and posting.
