Full description
My competition entry is this long Peasant Skirt.
I have made it upcycled it from a duvet/quilt cover from Sue Ryder (Fratton, Portsmouth).
I loved the fabric and wanted to make something that used lots of it as I had lots. Also I like to have a lot of skirt swirling about.
I have used the poppers from the botton of the cover to fasten the skirt and then on top two vintage buttons from my stash.
You can wear the skirt low down on your hips or higher up and if needs be then tie a skirt of belt around your waist. I bought two lightweight scarves at the same time so I will be including these with the skirt.
The measurement of the skirt at the top is 19 inches (47 cms) measured flat. I am a size 14 and it sits nicely on my hips.
The hem is raw but if you want me to hem it for you then send me the length you want and I will merrily do so.
The beauty of using a quilt/duvet cover is that if you are out in the cold and rain, or on a deserted beach somewhere on the coast New Zealand - then you can always shelter within it and poke up a sign saying 'Waiting for Harvey Keitel or Sam Neil' (whichever takes your fancy).
