Full description
This is made from a tree that unfortunately had to be cut down on my farm due to motorway expansion work. The old oak tree was beautiful, but at least by putting the wood to use, someone will still be getting enjoyment from it.
The wood is quite light for English oak, with a very white sapwood and light brown heartwood. There is a nice contrast with the dark bark.
The bowl is hand turned from oak grown in England, so it is really rather durable. It would be tough enough to make a great change or key bowl, maybe a vessel to store your favourite sweets, or just an ornamental item.
The finish is food safe, however, with the natural bark edge, cleaning would not be easy, dry items are probably a safer bet.
