The handle of this unique shaving brush is made from borosilicate glass (often known by the trade name of 'Pyrex') and had been entirely handformed by melting glass directly in a superhot gas/oxygen flame.
Inside the top of the brush I have put two jellyfishes, the deeper on is red with white spots, and the one nearer the surface is a green/blue colour (there is large silvery bubble caught underneath this one, which gives an odd effect as if it's trailing mercury). To mimic sea depth at the bottom I have put bands of rich and pale blues and greens, with the odd patch of cream/light brown to mimic foam and seaweed.
The glass handle is around 38mm long, and just under 27mm at the widest point. I have flattened the top so it can be stood up for drying. The hair is badger, with a nickel final.
As the glass is entirely handformed, and quite a large weight of glass, please be aware that there may be some small bubbles and inperfections in the glass. There are quite a few small bubbles in this one, so I am selling this as a slight second.
The glass handle has been annealed in a microprocessor controlled kiln to improve toughness, and should outlast the brush!
All of the glass I sell is formed entirely by hand in my workshop, so each one is always slightly different, so are always getting a true one of a kind piece of artisan flamework, especially with this usual sea-inspired brush!
This will be sent by recorded delivery (UK only)
