Add some lacy elegance to your hair with this tatted hair clip!
Part of my new Frivolite Fleur Collection, the idea for this came from my fascination with 3D tatting. I've seen some beautiful pieces in books over the years and thought I should have a go. After trying various ways of creating a 3D effect, I finally worked out a method of layering the tatted pieces to look like an open flower and I'm very happy with the result. It would look beautiful at a ball or party.
This piece has been carefully hand tatted in three different colours. The botton layer was created using high quality medium purple cotton thread. I then used lilac thread for the next layer and for the top layer, I used both lilac and white thread. Eighty rainbow clear seed beads were added around the edges of the layers with one sewn into the centre. A length of ruched lilac satin ribbon has been sewn to the base of the flower with a circle of felt beneath this. A silver plated pad featuring an alligator hair clip and a pin (so it can be used as a brooch) has been securely glued to the felt.
This piece is roughly 2 3/4 inches (70mm) in diameter (at its widest point) and just under 1 inch (24mm) high (including the clip and brooch component).
Due to small parts this is not suitable for children below 12.
This can be tatted in other colours. Please contact me with your request. You can find a list of available colours in my Profile here: http://www.folksy.com/users/TataniaRosa
