This glass heart is the ideal thing to either make into a simple pendant or to add to a more elaborate design.
Handmade from borosilicate glass which produces some fabulous colours which change with the light. There is a lot going on in this one, mostly caramel colours with a speckled design, there is also some purples and deep orangey ambers inside too. Due to the odd way borosilicate colours seem to act some it will often look different depending on the light and what’s behind it! Against black the purples come out, held up to the light or against white they turn to amber! Almost impossible to photograph, this one has to be seen in real life!
Measuring about 40mm high (about 1 ½ inch) and 20mm wide (about 3/4 inch), and roughly 6.5mm thick I formed this heart by melting glass directly in a superhot propane/oxygen flame, then fully annealed it in a digital controlled kiln. On top I have formed a loop in glass, to form a hanger. The space between even makes a little heart shape!
