I try to keep postage costs as low as I can, so postage quoted is for 2nd class Royal Mail. If it is urgent and you would like 1st class post please contact me for a revised postal cost.
If you order more than one item, I will refund the difference of any overpaid postage.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
My ACEO is a small piece of original textile artwork measuring just 3.5" x 2.5".
‘Beach Huts’ was inspired by a number of photographs I took on holiday in Norfolk and has been created by means of free-motion machine stitching. I typically use between 12 -15 different colours of machine embroidery threads, (which have a lovely sheen), on any landscape ACEO. I embroider onto calico which I paint first with an acrylic wash, although very little, if any, of the background fabric can be seen in the final piece!
Free-motion machine embroidery is like painting with thread. However, unlike painting where you move your brush across the paper to make your strokes and marks, with free-motion embroidery you do the opposite by lowering the feed dog on the sewing machine and then moving the fabric freely in any direction.
It takes many hours to create this type of ACEO due to the number of threads used to blend and tone the colours and hence the number of times the machine has to be re-threaded and the bobbin changed.
The final artwork is bonded onto a piece of material very similar to pelmet vylene to give it a little firmness and then finished off with a satin stitch border. Each ACEO has been signed and dated on the reverse.
