Norwood is a very cheeky monkey, and he loves eating bananas.
This listing is for patterns for you to knit your own Norwood Monkey and bananas. The patterns include instructions and lots of photos to help you make your own little friend.
There are two banana patterns included – a freshly picked banana, and one banana that Norwood has opened ready to eat. The banana skin and fruit are knitted separately, so don’t let your cheeky monkey leave banana skins on the floor for people to slip on!
Please note that this is not a listing for a finished item. This listing is for the knitting patterns only.
The pattern is 16 pages and written so it is easier for beginners to follow. You will need to be able to do the following stitches/techniques: knit, purl, casting on and off, sewing seams, increases and decreases, changing colours, i-cord, intarsia knitting and short rows.
Lots of tips and instructions are included in the pattern to help you, plus “cheats” on how to make your toys without using short rows.
All pieces are knitted flat on straight needles except the banana stalk which is i-cord knitted on two double pointed needles.
Finished Size: Monkey 26 cm long, Bananas 12 cm long
Materials and equipment needed:
- 3 mm straight needles and two 3mm double pointed needles
- For the monkey - Double knit wool 100g dark brown, 50g light brown, and black wool to embroider eyes
- For the bananas- Double knit wool 25g each of white and yellow
- Toy stuffing/filling approximately 150g
You will also need a tapestry needle to sew all the knitted pieces together.
You can choose different yarns and needle sizes to those suggested above to make your own original monkey pals.
The patterns will be emailed to you in pdf format within 3 days of cleared payment, although I do endeavour to send your pattern to you within 24 hours of payment. I only accept Paypal payments.
