The ButterflyLove flappy fish is a fantastic gift for small children and can be easily knitted in an evening.
The design uses different yarns to add textural interest so you can use up any oddments you have left over from other projects. If making it for a new baby, why not co-ordinate it with the baby's room or any other hand knitted clothes and toys you plan to give.

What you will need:
2 knitting needles (US3 or size suggested for main yarn)
Yarn oddments (at least three colors)
1 scrap of dark wool for eyes
Acrylic toy stuffing (polyfil)
Plastic toy squeaker (optional)
1 tapestry needle for sewing up
Skills used:
Casting on and off
Increasing and decreasing
Stitches used:
Stocking stitch
Moss stitch
