Why not sneak these terrifying mini-beasts into Christmas stockings, lunch boxes or socks to terrorize your young? Alternatively, just pop them into the corners of your house and watch your guests recoil!

The ButterflyLove Friendly Little Bugs pdf knitting pattern gives you clear step by step instructions and handy hints along the way.

Although the final effect looks complicated, it's actually a very simple pattern worked entirely in the flat. It would be suitable for an intermediate knitter or a beginner looking to expand their skills. Don't worry though, there are lots of photos to help you through the more complicated stages.

What you will need:

2 knitting needles (US3 or size required to match tension square)

5-10g of yarn

2 plastic toy eyes - 6mm

Acrylic toy stuffing (polyfil)

1 tapestry needle for sewing up

Skills used:

Casting on and off

Increasing and decreasing

Stitches used:

Stocking stitch
