Full description
Storm Clouds is the best description I can think of for this piece. The colour is dark maroon at the top, shading into white at the bottom, and all of it covered with black speckles. The clouds are printed blue, black and red, also with gold and silver speckling, then outlined with a thick gold paint. The same thick gold has been used for swirling lines above the clouds.
If all this is too confusing I can supply more photos of the details.
The silk has been unpicked from a (probably expensive) vintage Japanese kimono. It is mounted between wooden rods with black hand turned finials and has a maroon kumihimo hanging cord.
The size overall is 38" x 18" (96 x 46 cms) and the fabric area is 34" x 14.5" (86 x 37 cms)
