Full description

This chair was a result of finding an old sorry looking chair ,complete with a bad gloss paint job, in a charity shop in Stirling. and an album of postcards from a little charity shop in pittenweem (if your ever in pittenweem go there its an alladins cave of everything!)

It was the album that inspired me as the postcards ranged from the 50's through to the 80's and nearly all of them were written to Mr and Mrs Denby from Perth, There was even one written to Mr Denby when he was in hospital! Anyway I wanted to have a go at collaging the chair and thought this would be perfect, postcards from different people and places on a chair sat on by different people possibly from different places, unless the owner was a recluse of course!

The process of making it turned out to be a lot trickier than I originally thought, I wanted to use both side of the postcards so I had the writing and stamps for the seat and pictures for the frame so I soaked the cards and started peeling which took days and days in the end as I had to go painstakingly slow or they would just rip, and the paper had to be really thin other wise it wouldnt wrap properly. It was worth it in the end though once you start looking at it, you get drawn in trying to figure out wheres where!

A lot of love and work went into this chair, and its going to charity so bid with your heart. The lamp in the picture is also up for auction its called The Pixar Lamp
