Full description

copyright Elizabeth Lovick 2008

The shawl is roughly semi circular, with the increases between the pattern bands. It is knitted from the top down with a stocking stitch ground. The lace edging at the bottom, which is in garter stitch, is then worked sideways along the main body of the shawl. This shape means it stays on the shoulders well, and the relatively heavy edging gives it a swing.

Materials

150 g (1700 yards) Jamieson and Smith’s 2 ply Supreme lace weight (100% Shetland wool)

pair 4 mm (US 6) needles

Size

To fit bust up to about 132 cm (52 ins)

Finished Length 71 cm (28 ins) adjustable

Tension

22 sts and 34 rows to 10 cm (4 ins) over the Net Cluster pattern. Adjust needle size to get the correct tension.

Notes

There are ‘yarn overs’ on both odd and even numbered rows, but each pattern is straightforward. Increases in stitch numbers happen only between the openwork sections.

There are charts and line-by-line instructions for each of the pattern bands.

This pattern was first published in Yarn Forward Magazine, issue 6

The Small Print!

Once I have received your payment I will send the pattern as a pdf attachment to an email. The file size is less than 1 MB so your inbox must be big enough to take a file of that size. All sales are final.

Please remember that this pattern is copyright, and you cannot use the pattern to make garments for sale without my permission. Thank you.
