Full description
this sweet little mixed media art piece started life as a roll of vintage wallpaper, a box of embroidered hankies and tray cloth, a linen skirt, a purple wool cardigan, and a damaged book from the 1950s. all items were bought from my local st nicolas hospice or help the aged shops.
pages of the book, the wallpaper and embroidered hankies were dyed with tea and/or screenprinted and then used to create a little patchwork panel down the left hand side of the quilt.
more wallpaper was screenprinted with my 'weave' design, then sandpapered to distress it and seeped in pale green ink. it was then printed with a floral lino print and machine embroidered.
the embroidered tray cloth was painted over with white screen ink and rubbed back to distress it.
the purple cardigan was boil washed to felt it and made an excellent all-in-one soft wadding and backing. the whole piece was machine quilted using a variety of different coloured threads and bound in wallpaper. the piece measures just under 13.5 inches square (34cm.)
'flora' will come with velcro and wooden battens to attach to the wall (instructions included!) or can happily be framed (not included!) if you prefer.
