WonkyGiraffe Sew-a-Softie Owl- Cat- Thing Complete Kit, Pattern plus Tutorial
A 6” softie, ideal as a starter hand sewing project; great for cuddles, guarding keyboards or even (shhh) as a large pincushion!
It’s an owl, cat or monster thing- you decide; each one will be absolutely unique.
New for the season of gift giving, the kit now comes in a embroidered calico bag with an extra piece of fabric to make a second softie. If you don't want the bag - I will deduct a $2 , please contact me before purchase.
Reasons to buy this kit and tutorial;-
-It’s very very easy...and quick.[ I’ve seen 7 year olds manage this in a couple of hours.]
-You can sew it all by hand, [or simple to machine around if you are learning to use a machine].
-It includes a complete sewing lesson booklet to help and inspire, as well as photo instructions.
-Each one is unique to you; this is not “join-the-dots” sewing that replicates someone else’s “look”
-It is made from mainly up-cycled materials.
The TUTORIAL consists of two pattern pages, [a one-page “quick read through” set of instructions, and 9 pages of detailed step by step photo instructions with “sewing lesson style” notes].
Also included [ for the more ambitious/experienced ] are further instructions and templates; giving finishing options for a variety of ability (and patience) levels.
The KIT contains everything needed to complete your softie;
a basic shape in easy sew vintage fabric, filling [BS 5852] and with enough bits and bobs* for plenty of design choice (and even to make another one with your own fabric).
Plus a bonus paper replica of a vintage needle case, holding the needle and pins.
*buttons, small pieces of felt, some more small pieces of vintage fabric, feathers, strands of wool, embroidery threads.
All you need are scissors and a pencil
(these could be included too but will be $2more including postage. Please convo if you would like them.) Or I am happy to pre-cut the shape for you, but it is part of the fun to try!
