Full description
This is a small, but very unusual, pretty & striking frame made with rare Hawthorn wood. The frame is fitted with 6"x4" glass (postcard size) and is ideal for a cherished photo or picture. The picture displayed is just a photocopy of a very old wood cut which you are welcome to keep if you like! The frame is currently set in landscape but the hanging hook could be moved to use as a portrait frame if required (let me know if you prefer and I can change it for you).
This is a very unique frame as Hawthorn is very hard to find in large enough diameters to work this way. It is individually made (not mass produced) and a lot of care and attention has been put into the choice and cut of the wood to bring out the full beauty of the grain. It has been lovingly sanded and polished to a very high standard to give a beautiful silky smooth finish and show off this very pretty wood. The sapwood has been left to give a striking contrast and the fine bark has been utilised to add a frame to the frame!
The overall size of the frame is under 10"x8" (sizes are approx).
The wood used was collected from a woodland behind our barn, the tree was dead so nothing has been harmed to make it and it has travelled zero miles to arrive at it's finished state!
