Little pictures can tell big stories.

Hello. My name is Debbie and I’m an illustrator, print maker and part-time administrator. I love drawing and making narrative illustrations and work from home in a room that is full of many things – colour, pencils, paper, paints, silk screens, second-hand treasures and pumpkin lights.

I love drawing and carry a sketchbook or loose papers with me. Ideas often start with random doodles, some come from my imagination, some from observation and some reflect daily events. I discovered the magic of printmaking over ten years ago and screen-printing is one of my favourite ways of making pictures. Over the years I have built up my home screenprinting equipment and try to print as often as I can!

I completed an illustration degree in 2008 and the AOI selected my work for their Images 33 Annual. In 2012, Folksy and India Hobson invited me to be part of their photography project that would become ‘Revealing Craft’, a crowd funded publication featuring thirteen Folksy makers/sellers.

In 2013 and 2014, I attended three short courses in picture books and writing. I am currently studying towards a MA in Illustrated Children’s Books at the Cambridge School of Art at the University of East Anglia.
