You know, I've always been a little strange...I've always been creative and been drawn to fantasy , sci-fi and any other odd ball stories that defies the boundaries of our normal existence. Up until a few years ago I had mainly been a realist painter, painting small objects and then moving onto outdoor scenes. I came to sudden realisation that, while I enjoyed the work I was doing, it wasn't what I really wanted to do. My most favourite part of creating is letting my imagination run wild and the realism work was limiting that. That is how The Pale House was born, it really is the start of a much larger project that will explore this imaginary house that exists in a dream-like state, where things aren't what they seem. The house is old and appears in abandoned but is inhabited by various animals, plants and other ethereal beings. A lot of the concepts and things I make are full of symbolism, something I am deeply interested in, I don't like to give the pieces specific meaning as such, just hints and gentle nudges that allude to something else, I think we all make our own meaning of things anyway and much prefer that people decide what the work means to them.
Most of the work I've made so far has been primarily sculpture work, although I have been also working on a book, some creative writing and will be focussing some of my time on sound and music elements to. The end game is to put on a multi-disciplinary exhibition that will have live performance, sound installation, sculpture, paintings and any other work that comes out of it, all of it inspired from and part of The Pale House, perhaps I'll even to a tour with it, who knows? You can follow my progress on Instagram and Facebook for now, although I am working on some other ways for people to support me in this journey. I do larger scale works as well which I don't have on my Folksy Page as they might be a little difficult to post, you can see more about them on my social media channels!
My studio is based in a converted Silk Mill in Frome, a lovely market town just south of Bath full of creatives. I share the space with my special little dog, Luna, who keeps me company and occasionally barks at my fellow studio holders to let them know she is in the house!
