About Kerry Day - Printmaker

Kerry Day - Printmaker

Botanical printmaker - Paper and Textiles

Originally from London, I trained as a ceramicist at Bath Spa University and now live and work in Bristol. I completed an MA in Mutli-Disciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West of England in 2011 and am now based in my studio at Hamilton House, Bristol.

My current body of work is about the plants that I share my home and studio with. I am drawn to their architectural shapes and contours. The wide range of leaf colour and pattern in these cacti, succulents and leafy plants allow me to develop layers of texture and tone within the forms.
I use a mixture of reduction lino print and mono print (using the rollers like paint brushes) to produce variable edition prints. I sometimes etch into the lino with caustic soda to create more brush like marks.

More recently I have developed my textile range using the block printing method. Using Lino like stamps to create repeat patterns onto fabric, then making into products.
