Tea With You Becomes A Special Brew

About Me:
I've always loved painting from an early age, but never took it up seriously due to the run of the mill stressful working life, alongside bringing up a family, which I'm sure you are all too familiar with.

Working full time and setting up two businesses along the way, it was earlier this year that I decided it was time to slow down; go part time, pick up a paint brush and change direction. I'm so pleased I did. I feel a sense of calm when I put paints to paper. It's so rewarding and relaxing, and after suffering with Hyperthyroidism, I now find I'm assisting my own healing process.

After receiving positive feedback from family and friends and having connections with a local craft center, where I also based one of my businesses from over the past 10 years it gave me the perfect opportunity to display and sell my work.

Why Tea Bags:
Well, they produce the most wonderful texture to draw and paint on - almost illustration like.
You never really know what patterns will appear once they have dried.

How I started:
A red bush flavored Tea Bag accidentally left on the boiler!
It had dried overnight and left a beautiful contrast in colour, so I emptied out the tea and opened up the papers.
The rest speaks for itself really, I was drawn to the variation in colour and the texture of the paper.

Design Ideas:
My ideas and structure come from completing a Diploma in Garden Design and City & Guilds in Floristry. Producing detailed water-coloured plans and having a passion for flowers, I already knew my subject matter and the process I would follow. I felt comfortable drawing on a small scale, so the Tea Bag provided me with the perfect size to put pen and paint to paper.
I also enjoy mark making, something I enjoyed when doing a Patchwork and Quilting course, so some pictures I incorporate a patchwork border.

Living in the beautiful Forest Of Dean, Gloucestershire, provides me with inspiration on a daily basis. After taking our puppy Teddy out for his walks I can't wait to get home, pop on a brew and start working on another Tea Bag!!!

Primitive folk art designs, personal sayings and nature in general help me focus on what I love to paint.
I do hope you will like them too.

Thank you for looking or purchasing my work.
