Full description
This delightful beach-themed bookmark has been made from a variety of fabric pieces and haberdashery scraps, and has then been free-motion embroidered. It features a sandy and rocky beach with breaking waves, and is depicted in shades of pale blue, duck-egg blue, white, cream and golden-brown. The sky is made from pale blue and cream variegated print fabric. For the sea, I've used fabric strips in various shades of duck-egg blue, some fabric selvedge, white crinkled yarn and white lace. The sand is made from fabric strips and selvedge in shades of golden-brown, cream and beige, along with a strip of cream cotton lace. I've added some appliqué and free-motion machine-embroidered rocks, along with some free-motion machine-embroidered grasses and seagulls.
This delightful bookmark is a miniature piece of textile art. It would make the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys reading and loves the sea.
