About this item
I based this drawing on a screenshot that I took while playing the Skyrim® computer game, with a few alterations to make the fortress on the hill stand out against the skyline and give it a more sensible position in the landscape - i.e., not overlooked by easily climbable hills! Some tone and textural work also had to be done enhance the basic computer graphics in the screenshot. The drawing measures approximately 36 x 28 cm The Copyright © of this artwork remains with artist Mike Shayler of mikeshaylerpastels. I have always enjoyed the fantasy genre (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Dungeons & Dragons etc.) and often play computer games that are based on it, not least because the scenery is often stunning and imaginative. I had been doing a lot of pastel art and thought it was about time to do something in pencil again, so I took this screenshot, laid out the basic drawing... and then didn't get any further for several years for various reasons. Eventually, as with my painting Highland Splendour. I found the time to get this drawing done... and finished it just in time to pack it away before moving house!
