I wanted to buy my porridge-loving partner a spurtle as a birthday present, and I looked at almost every spurtle I could get online and didn't particularly think any of them perfect. I tried Folksy because in my experience there's some pretty impressive craftspeople selling through it, and it turned out I was right.
I thought this acorn design was smart and clever, and apt for my partner, who loves Scotland and works there regularly, but is, like myself, English. I also liked that Robin explained exactly where the wood came from, and since I'd originally thought to buy an antique spurtle, but not been able to find one, it seemed appropriate as well.
I really appreciated the detail and evident care Robin showed throughout my interaction with him, right down to packaging so smart that I didn't need to rewrap it - and when it arrived the spurtle itself was even more beautiful than it looked in the pictures.
My partner loved his present, and I loved buying it - so all round a perfect purchase!

A super kitchen utensil that is attractive and unique.

A simple stirring stick, but an absolute joy. By the time I placed my order the photographed item had gone, but Robin got in touch to let me know he had made up another for me, and it arrived very quickly, simply but lovingly wrapped.
It's a delightful object, I love using these for cooking, from sauces to pasta to scrambled egg, and so easy to clean. The spurtle itself is a straight form, which I actually find easier to use than the tapered versions, and it seems to fit the pot corners perfectly. The acorn topper is a lovely nod to a traditionally Scottish object made in England from English oak. There is a lot of joy to be had from using a simple but elegant object that has been crafted so well. Would definitely recommend these either for yourself or as a nice wee gift.
