Framed textile dog picture.. keep your face always to the sunshine!

A whimsical textile landscape with a really vibrant sunset sky. The sky is a photograph that has been printed to thick cotton fabric.... The colours are vibrant but I love the blurry feel created by the fabric texture. I am experimenting with painting my own fabric in order to make it truly unique. This picture uses silk and old linen plus anything else I had to hand. The fabric is painted and then stamped before finally embellishing with some pens and gold inks. I have then cut lots of tiny slivers of fabric and layered them across the bottom edge to create the effect of grasses, The layers are secured with lots of free motion wobbles. I've then added some machine embroidery stitches to create additional detail. The final steps are to carefully place Larry the Lurcher in the centre, followed by the quirky handmade paper text encouraging you to keep your face always to the sunshine! The work is then double mounted with antique white mounts ( aperture size is 14cm) and framed in a white wooden frame measuring 28.5 cm. I love to include dogs in my pictures....... my black Labrador Ted features in much of my work. Perfect gift for a dog lover friend, or anyone who wants a happy cheerful picture for their wall
