About this item
A whimsical textile landscape with a really vibrant sunset sky. The sky is a photograph that has been printed to thick handmade paper…. The colours are vibrant but I love the blurry feel created by the paper texture. I am experimenting with painting my own fabric in order to make it truly unique. This picture uses silk and old linen plus anything else I had to hand. The fabric is painted and then stamped before finally embellishing with some pens and gold inks. I have then cut lots of tiny slivers of fabric and layered them across the bottom edge to create the effect of grasses, The layers are secured with lots of free motion wobbles. I've then added some machine embroidery stitches to create additional detail. The final steps are to carefully place my black Labrador Ted in the centre, followed by the quirky handmade paper text declaring that Life is a beautiful thing! The work is then double mounted with antique white mounts ( aperture size is 14cm) and framed in a white wooden frame measuring 28.5 cm. I love to include dogs in my pictures....... Ted features in much of my work. Perfect gift for a dog lover friend, or anyone who wants a happy cheerful picture for their wall

What buyers say about The Hopton Stitchery
I stumbled across these wonderful pieces of art and couldn’t resist buying two of them. They are exquisitely made. So stunning and well presented. Arrived quickly and communication was excellent. I have my eye on others to join my collection. Highly recommend.

Bought 1 itemI fell in love with this beautiful picture as soon as I saw it on Folksy. In reality it is stunning. It went straight on the wall where I can see it and I feel very lucky to have it. It is beautifully worked and framed, the words are the perfect finish. A picture to treasure.
