About this item
These silver cufflinks feature a rounds ish pieces of cornish surfite which is bezel set in sterling silver and then finished off with sterling silver swivel backs. The surfite has a rosette pattern in shades of blue, white and mint green and hints of a few other colours, some of the colours are transparent and light can reflect off the setting behind them. There are a number of dimples in the surface from air bubbles that were trapped in the surfite as it formed. Measure approx 20mm diameter and the tops are 5mm thick, they have a smooth flat top. The swivel backs make them easy to put on. Not come across surfite before? Its the name given to layered up waste of epoxy resin that forms during the glassing stage of making surfboards (that's when they cover the foam core in resin), normally this waste material get thrown out but people have started realising that it has a beauty all of its own and recycling it into things like jewellery. This material came from Toy Factory Surf in Newquay, Cornwall and I cut and polished it myself (you can see the rough in one of the photos but its not included in the sale). The block formed stalagmites of resin as it was forming and the rosette pattern happens when you cut through those stalagmites. I have plenty of rough (and rough from other sources) so if you love the idea of surfite but want something else drop me a message. Come gift boxed ready for giving to the surfer in your life.

A lovely idea well executed. I ordered these as a bespoke item for a wedding and received them within days. Excellent product, excellent service.
These earrings are gorgeous and they match a necklace I already had.
The necklace arrived very quickly. I was delighted to be sent information about the making of this lovely and unusual piece which I have passed on to the recipient as this was a gift. I thought it was beautiful and am sure the recipient will love it.
