Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.
My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.
Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.
* I endeavour to represent my pieces as clearly and with colours as true to life as possible, however some slight variations in tone between the image on screen and the piece itself may occur.*
I love to use my original designs in a variety of ways. My hand-stitched robin, sparrow and blue tit can not only be seen as individual hand-embellished decorations, but also in 2D form, on my Garden Birds giclee print and the matching greetings card.

Full description
The basis of this little blue tit decoration is a digital reproduction of one of my original hand-stitched pieces.
The original blue tit was hand-stitched onto a natural, unbleached calico, comprising a black chain stitched outline with additional areas of blue, yellow, green, black and white embroidery thread, also added by hand. This original was then reproduced as a repeat print onto a beautiful neutral coloured linen by the team at Woven Monkey.
I then hand embellished this digital image with a black French knot eye, additional chain stitching in green and grey and with gold coloured sequins.
The reverse of the blue tit is a white wool mix felt. Front and reverse pieces have been hand-stitched together in a cream thread and lightly padded with a synthetic toy stuffing.
A white ribbon hanging loop is stitched between the linen and felt and tiny bronze red bells hang from its little ribbon legs.
Each blue tit measures approx. 8.5cm diagonally from head to tail tip and approx. 4cm across at its widest point.
This item is a decoration, not a toy and the listing is for one bird.
As each piece is embellished by hand, slight differences may occur between them.
Currently in stock are 2 birds facing to the left and 1 to the right. If no preference is stated, I will choose a bird at random for you.
