Full description

These round stud earrings feature chunky domes of fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver. The fordite had a white base with fine swirls in black, red, sparkly silver and yellow. These studs measure approx 12mm across with a high dome to the fordite (about 6mm) and the post is mounted approx in the middle. Fordite is lightweight so even though these are a larger stud they aren't heavy on the earlobe. Comes gift boxed.

Fordite is the name given to many layers of cured car paint that builds up in old style spray booths at car factories. The paint gets baked hard in between each layer leading to a durable material that can be cut to show off the many colours. This particular material has come from Ford's Dearborn plant, I think from a production line for the F-150 trucks. I cut this material myself and you can see the rough in some of the photos (not included) so if you love fordite but want something else making drop me a message. Fordite is becoming increasingly hard to source and thanks to more efficient painting processes less is being made so if you love your cars get some of the unique material whilst you can.
