Hello and welcome! This page is home to Beaded Beasties: mixed media box frames of dragonflies and other creatures in a mini environment. Each one unique, made from new and recycled materials. I hope you love what you see.
Do please also take a look at my other page: DArTworld - Digital Imaginings for greetings and occasion cards and prints.
This dragonfly is inspired by the vividly coloured Scarlet Darter. These curled, dried seedheads seemed ideal to represent bulrushes and it was fun to combine a variety of materials to suggest the dragonfly's habitat.

Full description
As with all Beaded Beasties box frames, I aim to recreate a little piece of nature for your wall. This richly-coloured frame features a beaded dragonfly in a mix of new and recycled red, pink and lilac beads to give the flash of colour that we see in the real insect. It is set against a printed watercolour background paper. The acetate wings have a printed vein pattern.
This unique piece of wall art would make an ideal gift for any insect-lover as well as those who enjoy the symbolism of nature. Dragonflies represent renewal and transformation. They can also symbolise resurrection, a free spirit and swiftness.
The setting is finished with a clump of bulrushes made from dried seedheads, wooden skewers, cotton cord, recycled card and wooden beads threaded on wire to mimic the dragonfly's preferred habitat near waterways and marshy ground.
This white box frame is 20cm (8 ins) square and 33mm deep. It has a hanging hook on the back. All Beaded Beasties box frames are one of a kind.
