This is based on a sketch of my cat Arwen. She often sits at my studio table whilst I'm working, staring out the window watching the birds. I managed to make a few quick sketches of her to translate into a print.
Made around Halloween/Samhain I was thinking of the auspicious nature of the beautiful Rowan Tree, and how it is used as protection against evil spirits at this time. So I decided to make a Rowan garland for Arwen.
I drew the cat, leaves, and berries each on a separate piece of lino, which I then carved and printed one colour at a time.
I chose soft pastel colours, reflecting the beautiful rowan tree and it's berries as it changes with the seasons.

An original hand carved three colour lino print. Printed on Fabriano Rosaspina archival paper in oil based ink.
Depicting a gray cat surrounded by rowan leaves and berries.
The image has been carved as three separate lino plates with each colour printed individually. This method is called multi-block printing. Printed in my home studio on my etching press. This is an open edition, with four available in this colour.
Paper size: 23cm x 23cms Image size: 11.5cms x 11.5cms
Fits into an IKEA 23cms x 23cms frame without the window mount.
Each print is titled, signed and dated and is sent securely packaged.
