Two Origami Christmas Stars: Hanging Decorations (Pink and Orange)

A pair of matching origami Christmas stars, each with eight points and a gold centre. One star is patterned in bright pink, orange and white, with bold stripes and block colour. The other star is plain, the front being dark pink and the reverse, dark orange. Each star measures approximately 11 cm at its widest point and is strung with fine gold thread for hanging. The design comes from Chrissy Pushkin's four point compass rose star (Paper Kawaii), which begins with the 'bird' base - the same base that is used to make the traditional Japanese tsuru, or crane. This design is much more sophisticated, however, and the resulting star is graceful and balanced, occupying three dimensions and looking as beautiful from the reverse as from the front. The paper used for the plain-coloured star is Japanese Tant, a strong, professional-quality paper that, being slightly thicker, has good structural integrity and holds its shape well. It has a lightly textured surface, with a consistent colour throughout. The paper for the patterned star comes from Cambridge Imprint, an English paper-making company that produces matte designs of incredible simplicity and intensity (I have been known to weep with joy upon opening a delivery of Cambridge Imprint paper!). Again, this is high quality paper, thick and creamy and FSC-certified. Both Tant and Cambridge Imprint origami paper come in mixed colours, shades or patterns, meaning that multiple packs must sometimes be bought in order to get duplicate papers to make each star (one 8-point star uses two sheets). These two lovely stars will be shipped within three days of ordering, wrapped in tissue paper in a letterbox sized box, sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48. Looked after well, they will bring joy for many years.
