Gorgeous, polished Banded Agate beads, in various sizes, set with lustrous Swarovski® glass pearls. The central, beautifully patterned Agate beads feature a 10mm round between six 8mm beads, in contrasting shades of pinkish-brown, chocolate, grey and creamy-white, bracketed between 5mm cream Swarovski® pearls. The necklace then graduates from 6mm to 4mm Agate in rows of five beads separated by a Swarovski® pearl. Agate is a form of Chalcedony, part of the Quartz family, and gets its name from the River Achates, in Sicily, where it was first found. It is one of the oldest known minerals, used by the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians for ornaments and amulets. I love the patterns and subtle, neutral tones to these beads. Each one has a different colouration and design, making this bracelet truly unique. Agate is the ancient birthstone for June and Gemini, whilst Pearl is the modern birthstone for that month.
