About this item
Dust off your sewing machine and make this practical, colourful tote bag made from two nine-patch squares in beautiful bright quilting weight Batik fabrics. The batik fabrics in this kit have mixtures of blue & green with tints of pink & orange (see photos for fabric examples) enabling you to create a vibrant tote bag that will have many uses, e.g. a carrier bag, a bag for art materials or sports equipment, or school bag. When not in use the batik tote bag can be easily rolled up & stored in a handbag or car for when it is needed. The kit is suitable for beginners to more experienced makers & contains eighteen squares of cotton Batik fabric, two cotton poplin lining pieces, two cotton tape shoulder bag handles & an instruction booklet. All the fabric pieces are cut to size & the only consumable you will need to provide is a reel of cotton thread & matching bobbin. You will also require a few basic sewing supplies including a sewing machine which can sew a straight stitch, sharp scissors, pins, an iron & ironing board. This kit could be stitched by hand. The kit is presented in a tissue paper lined white cardboard box which can be posted as a small parcel. The finished tote bag size is approximately 40 cm x 40 cm with a handle drop of 30 cm. Please note all fabrics and tapes are hand cut & so dimensions may vary slightly. The cotton poplin and tape handles are artisan materials woven in India from organic cotton. Designed by Deborah Shah-Smith in west Wales.
