Hello and a very warm welcome to my shop! I am so incredibly touched to share a piece that holds a very special place in my heart, centering on the theme of motherhood and the profound bond between a mother and her child. As a Sierra Leonean-British artist, my creative work acts as a personal bridge between my two cultural worlds. With this striking side-profile portrait, I wanted to explore the universal, sacred emotion of maternal love by blending the clean, minimalist lines of contemporary western design with the fluid rhythms and organic warmth found in traditional African art forms. For me, this artwork captures a sense of quiet elegance, nurturing protection, and inner strength. The flowing, stylized layers of her hair are rendered in a soft, sun-kissed golden-yellow palette with fine, delicate ink lines running through it. I chose a unique, cool slate-grey tone for her silhouette to contrast beautifully against a rich, deeply textured natural ochre-gold background. This earthy color harmony brings an immediate sense of grounding, peace, and warmth to a family home. Because this is a genuine handrail print-not a digitally created print-you can see the authentic, raw texture of the medium on the page.
