About this item
Painted canvas with hand embroidered kingfisher sitting on a branch. The stretched canvas first has an ink wash . The branch is painted with thick acrylic paint, and the bark is created by lifting the paint in places. Next kingfisher is painted, and then using hand embroidery, all the feathers are filled in. A few french knots are used for texture on the bark. On a 10 x 8 inch stretched canvas, backed with white linen. Hanging bar.

I love using the combination of paint and hand stitching, and wanted to experiment with the embroidery in one area of the canvas.
