I found the "comic book" fabric in the scrap bin of a fabric store. it paired perfectly with the red & white gingham and the quilt was born.

Full description
Retro, "Americana" style quilt, in bright red/white gingham and a retro style comic book fabric which features spaceships and "inventions".
Black and white striped binding frames the patchwork perfectly, giving the whole quilt a retro feel.
Ideal for a camper van!!!
Measures 61" x 44" (inches), large enough for a single bed.
Wadding 80% cotton/20% polyester.
Wash at 30 degC,Wool/delicate cycle. Tumble dry on Low. The quilt will wrinkle slightly after the first wash.
