Large kenworth fordite earrings

These statement earrings feature large drops of colourful fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver, the earrings have been finished off with simple sterling silver hooks. The fordite has a pattern of concentric rings in shades of blue, white, red, yellow and silver, the drops almost match. These fordite earrings measure approx 57mm from top of the hook to the bottom of the drop by approx 23mm wide so they are big and eye catching but fordite is light weight so they could be comfortably worn all day.

It is layers of cured paint that builds up in spray booths at vehicle factories where the paint misses the panel it is meant for, as painting technology improves and becomes more accurate less fordite is formed. This material is from the Kenworth truck plant in Chillicothe, Ohio, I bought it from a guy who works there who harvested it when they were doing a clear out in 2018.
