A quirky machine embroidery picture. This little picture is a combination of collage and embroidery. The dress is oversewn tissue paper. The whole image is sewn onto calico with a frayed edges to frame the girl. It is stretched over firm card using upholstery thread. One of my other passions as well as printmaking is embroidery. This little picture is a combination of collage and embroidery. My favourite way of creating is to cut out shapes and experiment. When I was younger I used to like to play with paper dolls. Cutting out little clothes of paper. They were a bit wonky and never stayed on the doll but I would spend hours cutting them out.
