Description

There is an unmistakable, enduring elegance in natural linen. Handwoven on a traditional loom, this Yellow and Blue fringed rag rug is crafted from rescued upholstery-weight floral linen fabric woven across a strong natural cotton warp. The sunny golden-yellow and soft slate-blue botanical motifs give the piece a substantial, tactile weight and a cheerful, sunlit warmth that enlivens any living space. Measuring approximately 76 cm by 42 cm with an additional 5 cm hand-tied fringe at each end (30" x 16.5" plus 2" fringe), this versatile rug brings comfort wherever it rests. Lay it beside a bed to greet your feet each morning, place it in front of a garden room doorway or bathroom vanity, or drape it across a sideboard or coffee table as a rustic, textured runner. (In the studio photos, you can also spot the coordinating storage basket I crocheted using offcuts of this very same fabric!) Combining heritage craftsmanship with everyday practicality, this sturdy linen weave is fully machine washable on a gentle 30°C cycle (or hand-washed) and pegged out on the washing line to dry fresh in the breeze. Dimensions & Details: Dimensions: Approx. 76 cm x 42 cm plus 5 cm fringe (30" x 16.5" plus 2" fringe) Finish: Hand-tied 5 cm decorative cotton warp fringe Materials: Substantial upholstery-weight floral linen strips, sturdy natural cotton warp Studio Note: Production photos feature the matching crocheted linen storage basket Care Instructions: Machine or hand wash at a cool 30°C; line dry naturally Postage: UK Mainland delivery is included in the price Provenance: Handwoven with intention and care in Norfolk, UK A charming, eco-conscious gift for lovers of natural linen, cottage garden florals, and mindful living. Please favourite my Folksy shop to explore new handwoven textiles as they leave the loom.

I have included some production pictures which show a different pattern of rag rug but was on the same run as this rug - I make several rugs on the same warp as the warp takes a long time to set up. I really enjoy working on my Antique Loom making these wonderful rag rugs. When cutting the fabric, you never know how it is going to come out when it is finally put into the loom - so exciting. Making these rag rugs is part of my way of giving back to the planet. Rag rugs were always part of history, the make do and mend. Historically cloth was always recycled and a lot of the time that recycling involved making rugs. I love being part of this history and living in an old weaving village makes it even more special.
