We have a small area of woodland near us here at Bramble Cottage. From dusk onwards We can hear the owls calling to one another. I love the multi textured look of their wonderful feathers and of course those all knowing wise eyes. This was a very ambitious project and took me along time to complete. I began with loose watercolour but then gradually built up the image with layers of stronger colours. I added texture and finer detail with coloured pencils, drawing pens and gel pens. Finally adding gouache paint highlights and some watercolour splashes.
