This print is included in my selection for The Artist Support Pledge, invented by artist Matthew Burrows in response to many artists struggling financially due to the current pandemic. Once I’ve made £1000 of sales from my included work, I promise to spend £200 on other artists’ work.

A lapwing reels across a windy sky in its desolate moorland home. This lino print is inspired by Emily Brontë’s novel Wuthering Heights in which there’s imagery of Cathy as a lapwing. I carved this during the first lockdown when I craved wild open spaces.
It was used in Manchester Art Gallery's branding for the Emily Williamson Festival 2021 (Emily is the founder of RSPB). A colour version has just been published in the British Trust for Ornithology’s new book ‘Into The Red’ (2022). I’m donating 10% from sales of this black and white version to BTO until Christmas to help fund their important bird conservation work.
The print measures approximately 30.5cm x 40cm and is printed on an antique Columbian Press in water based ink on Zerkall print paper measuring around 38cm x 51cm. It will be sent carefully rolled in tissue inside a cardboard tube (please message me if you’d rather it to be sent flat). It would make a delightful present for any bird lover or Brontë fan.
(I do have a couple of the limited edition colour version left. Please drop me a message if you are interested.)
