I wanted to exploit the natural beauty of the wood, in this case mahogany which has a deep red lustre and use contrasting woods for a pattern on the lid. I think the size and shape is suitable for a wide range of uses.

Full description
This is an ideal box for the dressing table to house jewellery, cuff links, watches or other treasured items.
It is made from solid mahogany and decorated using genuine marquetry veneers on the lid. The veneers I have used are sycamore, wenge and burr maple to create an eye-catching and unique design.
I have added solid brass hinges, red baize inside and a brass catch to secure the lid closed.
The surface of the box is finished to a silky smooth matt finish using hard-wearing polyurethane varnish and wax polish.
