Celtic knots are interesting and intriguing shapes created by using an unbroken continuous loop of material. I thought this would look particularly interesting in wood on the lid of a box. I retained small sections of the background wood to show where the thread passed under the material. I think the results are quite effective.

Full description
The unique feature of this box is its striking Celtic Knot design on the lid.
This has been created using the traditional marquetry techniques of hand-cutting thin veneers of wood to produce a really eye-catching design.
The box has been made from a solid piece of oak producing a distinctive shape with rounded corners and no joints!
The box has a semi-matt finish using hard wearing polyurethane varnish and wax polish. Inside the box the base is lined with red baize to protect the contents.
Soft tabs under the box ensure any surface it is placed on is also protected.
