Hi , I'm Jackie ,and I run Trumpet Pig . I decided on this name as I trained as a trumpet player ,and my favourite animals are guinea pigs ! I sell greetings cards and art prints , as well as some embroidery art pieces. All my cards and prints feature my original art work . I studied art and art history , and found my passion was for illustration . I work in my tiny studio , which I love as I am able to look outside the window while working . I tend to work with a sketchbook , and use a mixture of watercolour , watersoluble pastels , inks, colouring pencils and pen. I find a lot of inspiration in nature ,usually drawing from life ,or a reference picture , then I usually go off into my imagination. My other passions in life are dressmaking and embroidery . I am planning on selling some of my original embroideries in the shop soon . I guess you could say these two areas of my life influence one another, and probably the element I enjoy the most in art and sewing is colour . Other influences for my work are fashion history , film and Japanese culture .
I tend to work at A3 size , then I get my pieces scanned and printed at the local print shop , and made into cards and prints .
I think with all my products , I try to stick to what is inspiring me at that moment , so my stock is quite eclectic and somewhat quirky . With cards especially, I try to make designs which people will want to keep as pieces of art , not just temporary cards to throw away .
