About EleanorDorothyRose

EleanorDorothyRose

My life as a costume designer making tutu's and corsets make a mess in my room and lots of fabric and thread everywhere. Coffee and my cat Bagheera

I'm Eleanor Taulbut, I'm the owner and artist of my own brand Dorothy Rose. I've completed my NVQ in Fashion and Design Level 3 year 1 and I have a background in costume at local theatres in south Hampshire Chichester theatre, New theatre Royal, Titchfield and of course Groundlings theatre. I have done three internship as a costumier working for Wendy Benstead, Paloma Faith's costume designer over at London. New Theatre Royal with Naomi Gibbs as a costume and wardrobe assistant internship and I worked as a textiles and art technician at a local school Brune Park as an intern. I've also worked with Francis Campbell strictly come dancing costumer as a trail working in studio for a week over at Havant and I've got to have the chance to make the costumes for Titchfield and Groundlings theatre as a creative designer and seamstress for Hairspray and Cinderella production team.

I've began sewing since 18 with my sewing teacher Healthy and sketch since I was a little girl and stuck with it. I've always had an creative imagination mind and lucky that I've been raised by a creative family who've supported my creative passion. I've named my brand Dorothy Rose after my great Nan as she been a huge influence in my life and my Granddad Roger who was a artist himself. Designers who've influence me are Alexander McQueen, The Emanuel's, Vivienne Westwood, Georgina Chapman and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Looking back when I was 16 doing my Art and Textiles GCSE making pillows and blankets whilst I was at school I've never really wanted to have my own fashion and costume business. In fact, I was passionate about photography and drawing but whilst I was at Highbury College doing my level 2 in Fashion and clothing I had a change of heart and wanted to be a designer as I love the progress of designing and making clothes as I stayed doing my level 3 in Fashion and Design year 1. When I left college I carried with my creative skills as I've done sewing lessons and did online learning to build up my skills as a designer and seamstress.

I've made corsets, wedding dress, tutu's, fairy tale costumes and dreams. I also recycle and reuse fabrics. The garments I've made are fun, bold quirky designs. I also make our range of samples and collections
