Charles Cottage Designs encompasses all the diverse things I love to make.
My first love is feltmaking: Under the name of Flights of Fantasy I make home decor items, fashion accessories and bridal flowers. I also enjoy working with upcycled fabrics (mine or yours) and again can incorporate them even in wedding bouquets.
Under the name of Well Urned Rest I design and make cremation urns (including for pets). These are mostly felt, but also some textile designs are coming on line for Vegan purchasers.
I grew up largely in West Africa, probably why I have such a strong love of bright colours, but have lived in a 17th century cottage in leafy Surrey for nearly 30 years and in complete contrast to this riot of textile colour, I enjoy making plaster casts of hedgerow plants and seashore finds. These are almost without exception just white and can be seen on Facebook under the name of Charles Cottage Studio. They will be listed here too from time to time.
Everything is one-off – which means your purchase is unique and may differ very slightly from the picture. If you are keen to learn feltmaking, I offer well-illustrated kits – or contact me through Folksy for a face-to-face workshop making felt items or coiled fabric baskets.
