Wet felted, embellished abstract textile pieces.~ Helen Selina Textiles

I have always had a passion for the creative arts, enjoying drawing, painting and 3D work, from a young age. However, once I discovered felt making I was hooked. But, raising a family took precedence and my creative urges were satisfied by birthday cakes and kids' rainy day painting sessions. Now with my children grown and an opportunity to leave full time teaching, I am able to make my artwork more than just a hobby.

Watching each individually made piece change throughout the felting process is fascinating and the final result is often a surprise. Although each piece of felt created has its own beauty, I found that by adding a variety of different materials to the surface, I created extremely tactile pieces. I rarely produce recognisable images, preferring an abstract nature, encouraging the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the individual elements as well as the piece as a whole.
