Description

The maple tree is deeply embedded in Japanese culture. It symbolises many things, including renewal, balance and serenity. This exquisite greetings card features a single origami maple leaf with red, yellow, pink, brown and gold flower patterns. The maple leaf is created from five smaller leaves which are pieced together in an overlapping pattern - a technique known as modular origami. The stem is also made from paper. The leaf tilts slightly, as if drifting gracefully down from a tree. When it catches the light, it gleams gold. The leaf and stalk are hand-folded from Yuzen Washi paper using what is believed to be a traditional design. Japanese Washi paper is made with natural plant fibres such as mulberry. It is known for its long-lasting strength and versatility. Yuzen Washi is carefully hand-coloured and dyed by artisans using screen printing techniques to create vibrant textile-themed patterns. The card, which is white, measures 10 cm by 10 cm. It is blank inside for your own message, and can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, as a thank you or sympathy card, or simply to tell someone that they are being held in your thoughts. It is posted 2nd class in a hard-backed C5 envelope. A separate piece of card is included to protect the greetings card as it is removed from or placed in its envelope.
