Card Moorland Strolls Witch Inspired

This design commemorates the countless women who must have encountered the fear and threat of being accused of witchcraft. They must have occasionally escaped potential persecution by strolling up onto the moors where they lived so they could feel free just for a few moments and express their thoughts, feelings and desires in peace. Due to witchcraft accussations women's freedom of expression became stifled as they didn't want to come under the radar of the authorities. Many cultures vilified women in this way eg. 'for talking too much' etc and this threat was just one of many mechanisms used to control women. Threat of removing your children from you was another and this is going on today in a disguised, secret manner.
